4 words… what an incredible experience.
Being able to see some of my favorite artists, groups, and djs was incredible in itself, let alone having a big group of friends all together in one space hanging out, drinking craft beers and enjoying incredible art and music.
The first day of the festival, Friday, we saw artists:
– George Ezra
– RL Grime
– Porter Robinson
– Amon Tobin
– Mumford & Sons
George Ezra was a nice introduction into the festival with a more mellow sound than the rest of the artists that we were seeing that day. RL Grime, Porter Robinson, and Amon Tobin were all more DJ/EDM style music that was beyond entertaining. The stage sets and the energy that these artists were able to pull out of the crowd were incredible. By the end of the night we were beyond excited to finish off with Mumford & Sons and wind down a little after our first incredible day at OSL.
The Second day of the festival, Saturday, we saw artists:
– Cold War Kids
– Billy Idol
– G-Eazy
– Kendrick Lamar
– The Black Keys
Saturday was our day, the reason that we had come to San Francisco. We were there to see G-Eazy and that we did. This whole day was filled with excitement. From the line-up of musicians, to the group of friends that we were with, to the pre-gaming before the festival, we had a blast this day. It made the entire trip worth everything.
The Third and final day of the festival, Sunday, we saw artists:
– Hot Chip
– DJ Mustard
– Odesza
– Caribou
– Elton John
– Axwell & Ingrosso
This day was a perfect cherry to the top of our ice-cream sundaes. Starting off with Hot Chip, we got the boost of energy we needed to carry us through the night. We didn’t end up seeing much of DJ Mustard because it takes awhile to get from one set to the other in that gigantic park but we were there just in time to get a great spot for Odesza, who were beyond amazing. We had never heard of Caribou before but he was incredibly entertaining and a great follow-up to Odesza. As amazingly talented as Elton John is, his set was rather uneventful and mellow compared to the other sets that we had seen. Being that he had a two hour set and everyone else was about an hour, we stayed for an hour of Elton John and then moved back to the previous stage for Axwell & Ingress who might just be the best closing set that I’ve ever seen. They crushed it, were beyond entertaining, and a massive boost of energy to cap off our night.
Outside Lands was a beyond incredible experience; especially it being my first time at a music festival. I would go back in a heartbeat and relive those moments over and over again.
