With only a few days left until my boyfriend and I take off for Bali, Indonesia it’s time for me to start packing my carry-on essentials. Previously, I swore by taking a duffle bag and a backpack but most backpacks only have two compartments and don’t tend to be very safe since all of your belongings are being carried on your back behind you, which you can’t see at all times. The last few times I traveled abroad I had all my money just sitting in the small front pocket of my backpack which could have easily been accessed by pickpockets. Thank god it wasn’t, but you get my concern. Due to this very real concern, I purchased an actual travel messenger with lots of little pockets and compartments to keep me better organized while traveling and keep my stuff safer while I’m abroad. Say hello to the Monopoly Travel Messenger Bag from MochiThings. I’m obsessed with this bag.
My favorite thing about this bag is that it has everything you need in a bag in a small compact package. There are slots to hold credit cards, cash, passports, travel tickets, a water bottle holder in the main pocket which I will use to hold my extra camera lens, an iPad pocket with velcro straps to keep it in place and even more pockets for various other travel goods. Here are my must-haves in my carry-on:
- Passport / Travel Docs
- Currency / Credit Cards
- Ipad / Iphone
- Charging Dock
- Perfume
- Travel Game
- Outlet converter
- Laundry Bag
- Camera / Lenses
- Poncho
The great thing about international flights is that 1) there are endless free movies to watch and 2) alcohol is free, which I’ve mentioned before. If you’re anything like me, falling asleep during the flight is nearly impossible and a few glasses of red wine always helps me to get relaxed. I also have a weird issue where my left butt cheek goes numb… yeah, I know, pinched nerve or something but anyways, sitting on the pillow that they give out usually helps a bit and I have to get up and move a lot or it gets really bad.
Basically, I just try and pack as lightly as possible so that I can get on and off the plane as quickly as possible. I check my luggage every time and I know some people have issues with that because luggage can get lost but I’ve never had an issue… knock on wood.
Oh and P.S. don’t waste your time on The Revenant if you haven’t seen it yet. It was soooooo slow, and I love Leo.
